What a proper Marg installation includes

Our standard Marg installation covers server-side setup on your primary counter machine or back-office server, client installation on additional counters and back-office workstations, network share and permission setup for multi-counter environments, Marg licence activation in your firm's name, and hardware supply and configuration — barcode scanner, POS thermal printer, MRP label printer, cash drawer — for every billing counter.

On the software side, we configure company details, financial year, GST registration and HSN masters, import item and batch masters (critical for chemists), set up price lists, define company-wise, brand-wise and quantity-slab schemes, configure user roles for counter staff, back-office and management, and design invoice formats for retail bills, wholesale tax invoices, delivery challans and e-invoices. Automated daily backup is configured to a network drive or cloud location, with a restore drill during handover.

Migration — with special care for pharma batch data

Most Marg installations we do in Pune involve migration from an existing system — Tally, legacy chemist software, older Marg installations, or Excel. Migration is a formal sub-project with double-entry verification: staging Marg company, import of ledgers, item masters, batch masters, opening stock (batch-wise for pharma), pending orders and outstanding, then line-by-line verification of trial balance and stock summary against the source.

For chemist and pharma customers, batch-level migration deserves special attention. Every item's batch, expiry, MRP, purchase rate and current stock must transfer accurately, because near-expiry alerts, substitute suggestions and salt-composition-based searches all depend on this data being correct from day one. Getting batch data wrong after a month of billing is orders of magnitude harder to fix than spending an extra day on migration verification.

Timeline and phased go-live

For a single-outlet chemist or retail shop with clean source data, full installation — server, counter, hardware, licence, masters, migration and training — completes in 3–5 working days across Pune and PCMC. For distribution setups with warehouse workflows and salesman mobile app rollout, timelines run 5–10 working days. For multi-outlet chains, we run a phased approach: implement flagship outlet first, stabilise for one week, then roll out remaining outlets in waves of 2–3 outlets per week.

Post-installation handover and support

Every installation ends with a formal handover — written installation report (server IP, share paths, licence details, hardware serials, backup schedule), a printed user manual customised to your Marg setup and invoice format, and a live backup-restore drill. The first month after installation is a formal stabilisation period with priority support, hardware issue triage, GST return assistance and daily check-ins during the first week.
